Mar 27, 2023 · The pain res nerf is the only perk nerf Im honestly upset about. As always the devs go way too far with their nerfs even when the perk really doesn't need it. Pain res wasn't that unfair of a regression perk by itself.
I've been running both Scourge perks, Pop and Corrupt on Oni for a bit and it's been really fun. I think my favorite part about Pain Resonance is the informational part - it's better than BBQ or Thrilling for info because it's telling you which gen someone's on needs to be interrupted the quickest. Besides being a scourge hook and therefore somewhat unreliable, Pain Res gains power directly off survivor mistakes and killer momentum. If survivors are getting slammed by it one after another, they're losing the match anyway.Pain res is/was really strong, but I think we have likely all been in those situations where it being a scourge hook perk has screwed us over for at least part of a game. I personally won't be anymore. it's just an old pop, but with a lot of restrictions and 4 uses max only. I really don't think it needed to be changed, it was a fine perk not op. and since most gen regression perks are gutted, I'm not sure what will take its place. maybe jolt but that perk is meh and counterintuitive on a lotta killers.
Let's say you got 8 hooks, all Scourge. Old Pain Res, 120% regression in total. And by 8 hooks, the match is already over, whether you've won or lost. Now that's 100%. Miss even just one, and that's basically an identical amount of regression. It's basically only a modest nerf now. Pain Res still has the same issues as before though.
